How often can I use the land?
— Answer
Dues entitle regular members to unlimited free personal use of all club properties. Fees are charged for all non-dependent guests. On some club properties (fee land), a small, daily fee is required for dependents. Use of standard land (non-fee land) is always free for members and dependents. Fee land is no better than other land. The fact that a fee is charged merely reflects how the landowner is compensated.
Can I take guests?
— Answer
All active members are permitted to take an unlimited number of their dependents (spouse and dependent children) to club land on an unlimited number of days. Dependents must always be accompanied by a member. Non-dependent guests may visit club land for a maximum of three days in any 12-month period. A maximum of two non-dependent guests may be included on any reservation, except those for firearms deer and turkey hunting, when only one guest per reservation is permitted. Members are allowed to take guests any time, for any type of hunting, including season openers. ALL guests must have a completed Hold-Harmless Agreement (link to hold harmless agreement) on file at North America Outdoors prior to visiting club property.
How can I be sure I am the only hunter on the land?
— Answer
Land can only be visited if reserved. All members receive map books with detailed, in-depth descriptions of the club’s farms. Each farm is treated individually, receiving full-page treatment that includes geographic location, size, boundaries, maps, driving directions and the type and quality of hunting and fishing habitat. Our online reservation system provides all of this plus detailed aerial photos with GPS coordinates (Click here for an example – link to reservation maps aerial photo). When you make your reservation, you will be assured of the exclusive use of your choice of land for the duration of your reservation. Advanced reservation schedules will be dictated by North America Outdoors on a per species basis; all members will have equal opportunity reserving property.
Does the clubs reservation system work like a timeshare?
— Answer
No, you are not confined to one area at one pre-selected time. Think of the reservation system like reserving a hotel. Make unlimited reservations on any farm (within the Club’s rules). Our state-of-the-art online reservation system is available 24/7/365 from any computer that has access to the internet. All you need is your user ID and password. If you do not have access to a computer at the time, you are always welcome to call us and make a reservation by telephone anytime during normal office hours.
Are there Seniority or Preferred members in the club?
— Answer
No. Every member has the same equal rights to reserve land either by telephone or by use of our state-of-the-art reservation system, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Will other members be on the same property or section that I reserved?
— Answer
No. It is yours exclusively in your reservation. Other members may join your reservation only with your prior permission. It is common for members to become friends and start hunting together.
How many days can I reserve the same farm for deer gun season?
— Answer
You have the ability to reserve a farm for as many days as you like (not to exceed 10 days), but only if you will be hunting on the reserved property all of those days. If you limit out or decide not to hunt on the property then you are expected to call the office and free up the property for the day(s) you have it reserved. We expect all members to be considerate of fellow members and make properties available if not intended for use.
How will I know if there is any game on a particular farm?
— Answer
Harvest reports -- available only to members -- are an invaluable resource. These reports allow savvy hunters and anglers to pick the best farms available for the type of game they pursue -- and prevent disappointing trips to inappropriate land. After using club land, all members are required to report within two days the amount and type of game observed and harvested, as well as the condition of the property. Our most successful hunters use the reports extensively and are rarely disappointed with their land selection. There is no better tool for a long distance hunting trip!
What if there is an emergency while I am hunting?
— Answer
Emergency Service is available - Members can call our toll-free special emergency telephone number whenever assistance is needed to locate land, report any trespassers, deal with last-minute changes, or handle road emergencies. This number is monitored by management whenever the office is closed, so you can always get in contact with NAO. In order to promote club communication our online newsletters keep members informed of all club happenings. The news and information is written by and about club members. Ads are free for those seeking hunting and fishing buddies, as well as those seeking to buy, sell, or trade hunting and fishing items.
What will I get for referring other people to the club?
— Answer
The club rewards its goodwill ambassadors by providing fully paid, non-cancelable lifetime membership to every member that sponsors 10 new regular members. THAT'S RIGHT - You can hunt, fish and camp on NAO land free for the rest of your life. Plus, you could sell your equity membership, recover your initial investment, and STILL HUNT FOR FREE! Just bring 10 new regular members to the club.
How much property is leased per member?
— Answer
NAO will lease a minimum average of 100 acres per member. We set this standard to ensure there is enough land available for all members, even if every single member happened to make a reservation on the exact same day (that has never happened). If there ever is a case where a property that you desire is already reserved for the day, you will be able to find a comparable piece of land within a reasonable driving distance because we maintain at least 100 acres per member.
Will I see the landowner?
— Answer
It is possible. We sometimes will lease recreation rights to working farmland. The landowner makes a living from his land and has to work it at his schedule. Use it to your advantage! A landowner can sometimes tell you the best place to set up to hunt and possibly where and when the animals travel on different pieces of land. Always respect the Landowners rights and property. Remember, you are representing the Club while you are using that property.
Can I advertise and sell my membership if I no longer want it?
— Answer
Yes, you can openly and publicly advertise your Lifetime Membership for sale if you no longer want or need it. We don't believe it is fair to members if they invest their money in a membership, but are prohibited from advertising and selling it. While members often sell memberships to people who were going to buy one from the club, we aren't going to penalize our members because we are greedy and want to block out fair competition. If a member wants to put forth an effort to recover their investment, we support them. NAO will need to approve the new member’s credentials before the transfer can be complete.
Can club rules be changed after I join?
— Answer
Yes, BUT rules can only be changed by a majority of voting members. If you join a club knowing the rules are compatible with your plans and needs, it would be very unfair to you if the rules could be changed by a unilateral management decision without your participation in the vote. NAO yields its rule making power to the members, and takes a position that whatever the majority of members want, they shall have. Only Members can make and change rules; management is responsible for enforcing compliance of the rules voted in by members, and sets the prices to compensate for the financial impact rule changes have on club finances.
Do I qualify for membership in NAO?
— Answer
Maybe; NAO will not accept any person for membership if: they are a convicted felon, they have been found guilty of serious or multiple wildlife violations, they are not a safe, ethical hunter or angler. The member, not his money, is our first concern! Our thorough screening process protects you from being in a club with unsavory characters.
Is the land in Quality Deer Management?
— Answer
We anticipate most of our members will practice Quality Deer Management. Some farms will have restrictions per State regulations. We do, however, support a first time hunter in the decision to harvest smaller game than experienced hunters would harvest. We want youth and first-timers to have an enjoyable experience in the field. After all, they are our future sportsmen and women! Do us all a favor – take a child hunting, fishing, and/or camping. You’ll make a needed positive influence on our youth and help promote our way of life to our next generation.
